EMC compliance for the ST-504
The ST-504 instruction for use includes an electromagnetic compatibility section. It covers home healthcare and professional healthcare environments. EMC information describes how the equipment should behave around electromagnetic disturbances. It does not establish a medical outcome.
Essential performance
The manual identifies two device-specific functions for EMC testing:
- Air pressure range: no more than 180 mmHg.
- Heating mode: no more than 42°C.
The stated pass/fail criteria are tied to measurement of pressure and temperature. If electromagnetic disturbance causes loss or degradation of those functions, device performance may be affected.
Practical separation distances
The manual warns against high-energy or radio-frequency sources. Examples include MRI, HF surgical equipment, microwave ovens, and some wireless or security systems. Keep portable RF communications equipment at least 30 cm from the air-compression massager.
Do not stack the ST-504 with other equipment unless it can be observed for normal operation. Use only the specified accessories, transducers, and cables because substitutions may change emissions or immunity.
What EMC does not mean
EMC compliance does not make every environment safe. It does not decide whether compression is appropriate for a person. Read the ST-504 complete guide for operating limits. Use the safety and contraindications guide for stop conditions.
Sources
The technical limits on this page come from the ST-504 instruction for use. Broader medical-device context is available from FDA medical device information.
Plain-language check
Keep the unit dry and in reach. Do not place it near an MRI or a high-power radio source. Do not swap the cord or cable. If the unit acts in a new way, stop and ask support.
Use the listed test set. Use the listed unit. Keep the same gap. Do not guess what a sound, heat, or loss of air means. Stop the cycle. Check the cord, tube, and sleeve. Ask support if the fault stays.
